Tasting New Fruits

Tasting New Fruits Location - my house Date - June 24, 2025 Fruit #1: Kiwi I tried kiwi for the first time today. I bought one from Publix. They all looked the same to me, and I don't know how to pick a ripe kiwi, so I picked one from the display almost at random. I washed it and then sliced it. I decided to eat it with the skin on (the internet said it was fine to eat it with or without the skin). It was pretty good. A bit more acidic/tart than I expected, and it certainly had an interesting texture (from the skin, I think). However, I did enjoy it overall. It kind of tasted like the combination of a strawberry and a pear. Kiwis are the most prominent fruit from their family, Actinidiaceae, and are classified as berries. Fruit #2: Apricot The next fruit I tried was the apricot, which I also bought from Publix. It was quite tasty, I really enjoyed it. I like dried apricots and eat them semi-frequently, but this was my first time trying a fresh apricot. It has a mild flavor, very si...

My experience at the farmer's market: Location - Waterside Farmer's Market in Lakewood Ranch, FL Date - June 22, 2025 General experience: My experience at the Waterside Farmer's Market was good! I've been a few times--my Mom likes to go and walk around--but it was nice to be back for the first time this summer. It was very hot out, being midday in late June, but we did walk around for a good hour or so. There were many great stands, and my senses were enjoying the event: great smells of baked goods, empanadas, and more, nice live music, and delicious food. Fruits and vegetables: There were two produce stands at this farmer's market. The first stand primarily had vegetables but also featured some fruits as well (watermelon and cantaloupe, specifically). It was laid out horizontally along the walking path, with the more colorful fruits displayed up front next to the path. On one side, there was also a man cutting the fresh watermelon and cantaloupe and selling the pre...
